McLaughlin’s 400-meter hurdles record in the New Balance national championships was a huge win. She helped establish a Swedish medley relay high school record. She was selected Gatorade National Girls Athlete of the Year for her athletic prowess.
High school Olympic qualifier McLaughlin made history. She was the youngest US track and field Olympian in almost 30 years. At the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, McLaughlin was on a team that broke a record and set a world record for the indoor distance medley relay. With a time of 10:40.31, they did very well.
During the New Balance Nationals, McLaughlin also set a new national record in the 400-meter event. She ran the race in 51.61 seconds, which was a new record.
